Yoga is being fully present. ~Shadai M.

How long have you been practicing yoga?
I've been on my journey for a year and a half.

What type of yoga do you practice?
I practice Bikram & Vinyasa.

Do you attend classes or are you self-taught?
Both. I attend class twice weekly & practice before bed at nights.

How often do you practice?
I practice daily (even if it is just for 10 minutes).

How did you discover yoga?
My nurse was a yoga instructor and after a discussion, I decided to give it a try.

What have you learned throughout your journey?
F.L.Y. (First Love Yourself ), patience - because nothing happens before its time and to always listen to your body.

Do you feel yoga is more mental or physical?
A combination of both. Sometimes my body may be tired, I can feel the sweat dripping during practice or some poses may still be difficult to do at this point in time but I just have to remind myself to breathe, stay present and do what I can.

What keeps you motivated throughout your practice?
What keeps me motivated is seeing various Instagram posts, from other yogi’s I follow, especially when they have had a breakthrough with a pose they thought impossible to do before.

What has yoga taught you?
Yoga has taught me that nothing happens before its time, honor my body and let go of things that no longer serve you.

Please share any advice you would give to someone interested in getting started doing yoga?
Don’t worry about what you think people may be thinking about you, focus on how you feel and remember you are doing it for yourself!

What is your favorite quote?
“If you want something bad enough, go out and fight for it, work day and night for it, give up your time, your peace, and sleep for it, if all that you dream and scheme is about it and life seems worthless and useless without, if you gladly sweat for it and fret for it and plan it and lose all your terror of the opposition for it……………. You Will Get It! “ – Les Brown

Thank you Shadai for being a part of the series!
